Dear
Parents,
This
year all grades at the Elementary School will be holding conferences to discuss
student progress. These mandatory conferences will give you a clear sense of
your child’s academic achievement.
There will be no grades assigned at this conference, but teachers will
have evidence of your child’s performance to date.
Since
the conference is limited to twenty minutes, it is important that a schedule be
maintained in fairness to all. If you need to reschedule, please call the
office to arrange an alternate time and day.
To
assist you in this conference, I have attached a checklist that will assist you
and the teacher to focus the conference while prioritizing your concerns.
This
checklist should be sent back to school prior to the conference.
I have also attached a revised report card where the Learner Qualities section has been revised. Please take a few moments to review this section, perhaps highlighting sections that are most important to you as a parent. It might be helpful if you brought this back with you to the conference. As you are reviewing the document, keep in mind the following:
C-Consistently means that your child needs no cueing, but is able to independently
fulfill social responsibilities; he/she has steady effort and has a great work
ethic.
U-Usually
means that your child needs cueing upon occasion, the independence may be
inconsistent, the effort is generally there but could be increased. A good work ethic most of the time.
R-Rarely means that your child is at the beginning stages in fulfilling social
responsibilities and might need daily cueing and support; his/her effort is
minimal and work habits need improvement.
We
hope that these changes (with more to come) assist you in getting a better picture
of your child here at Sutton Elementary.
Thank-You
for your continued support,
