Classroom Expectations:
Students are assigned a textbook for which they are responsible for the condition and return at the end of the school year. Students are also assigned to work at a computer in the classroom. The student is responsible for all use/misuse of the computer while he/she is on the school network in the class. Each student is required to sign and return an acceptable use of technology agreement prior to using the computers.
Students are supplied with notebooks and are required to have them each period. All pertinent information relating to each lesson is given in lecture form prior to working on the computer. It is the student’s responsibility to record the necessary information into his/her notebook. Classroom rules and regulations are agreed upon and mutually determined by the students and instructor.
Homework/Classwork:
Homework and class assignments are to be turned in on a regular basis. Any assignments that are late or not turned in are subject to a reduction in grade, not excluding zero.
Absences/Tardiness:
Students are expected to be in class, on time, every day. Tardiness disrupts the flow of the class, and is looked upon negatively. Accumulation of three tardies in any given quarter is subject to a referral to the office for disciplinary action.. Topics learned each day are built upon material from previous lessons. Absences may have a detrimental effect on grades if missed work is not made up upon a students’ return to school.
Grading:
Quizzes, tests, and projects will be given periodically during the year. Tests, quizzes, and projects may be written, computer-based, oral, or any combination of the three. In addition, notebooks will be checked periodically for thoroughness. Grades are generally bases on a scale of 100 points, but that is subject to the nature of the assignment. Weighting of each assessment tool will be determined based on a pre-determined set of percentages.
Extra Help:
Extra help sessions will be scheduled twice a week from 2:00 to 2:30. If the scheduled days conflict with students’ schedules, arrangements must be made with the teacher.
