Classroom Expectations:

Each student will be supplied with a textbook.  The condition of the textbook is to be maintained by the student, and he or she is responsible for it.

A pencil is recommended daily for work.  Notebooks and textbooks are required on a daily basis.  All assignments, notes, quizzes, tests, and other assigned materials should be kept either in the student’s notebook or in a provided manila folder for further study and review.  A mutually created set of classroom rules and guidelines has been set and all students are to adhere to them.

Homework/Classwork:

Homework and class assignments are to be turned in on the due date.  Assignments that are late or not turned in are subject to a reduction in grade, not excluding zero.   A manila folder for each student is kept in a file cabinet in class to save all work that has been turned in.

Absences/Tardiness:

If a student is absent, it is his or her responsibility to find out what was missed and for making up all work and/or tests, within one week of the absence.  Excessive absences and tardiness will make it difficult to pass this course, as each lesson is compounded on the previous one.  After a student has accumulated three tardies to class, he/she will be subject to disciplinary action.

Grading:

Quizzes, tests, and projects will be given periodically during the year.  Tests, quizzes, and projects may be written, computer-based, oral, or any combination of the three.  In addition, notebooks will be checked periodically.  Grades are generally bases on a scale of 100 points, but that is subject to the nature of the assignment.  Weighting of each assessment tool will be based on a pre-determined set of percentages.  If an assignment or project is not turned in on the due date, then it is subject to a reduction in grade.

Extra Help:

Extra help is available twice a week for ½ hour.  If a student cannot make a scheduled help session, then an alternate date may be arranged with the teacher.
