Bienvenue! Welcome to French I! In this course students will develop the skills needed to communicate effectively in the french language and develop an in‑depth awareness of the French‑speaking cultures.

 

Our textbook, Allez Viens level 1, includes the following topics:

Objectives

 

               By the end of French I you will be able to carry on conversations about yourself, your family and friends, and weekend activities in French by learning the every day vocabulary, present tense of regular and irregular verbs, and the basic grammar structure necessary for conversation. In addition to our text book we will be using a variety of listening and speaking activities, music, and videos to aid in our goal of learning the French language and subsequent culture. Presentations such as collages based on chapter content; projects such as francophone cultural research projects, and cafι menus and dialogues will be assigned to allow you to demonstrate your personal understanding of the topics discussed.

•            notebook or binder

•           folder ( for organizing handouts)

•            French/English dictionary

Please remember!

 

•           Arrive on time and prepared to work.( Bring all necessary materials.)

•            Homework is assigned nightly and is considered an extension of the work we do in class

•           Extra Help is always encouraged. I am available Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. This time is set aside for make‑up work of missed tests and quizzes due to absences.

•           You are responsible for finding out if you have any missed assignments and completing them in a reasonable time period. ( Homework‑1day, Quiz/Test‑4days)

•           Course Requirements and Syllables may be modified to fit the need of the class.

•            Remember to try as best you can to complete all assignments without the use of any online translators. It is recommended that you utilize a French/English Dictionary to aid you with unfamiliar words and phrases.
