POSITION TITLE:  Facilities Manager

 

REPORTS TO:  Superintendent

 

DESCRIPTION: Responsible for planning and coordinating activities and services relating to building and equipment maintenance, HVAC and plumbing for physical plants. Responsible for implementing OSHA and ADA compliance.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  College degree with a concentration in operations management or relevant, equivalent experience. Experience and/or knowledge of heating and cooling devices, plumbing, roofs, general building infrastructure and equipment. Strong human relations skills desired. Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Inspects and evaluates physical plant and related equipment
  2. Makes recommendations for maintenance, repairs, and service
  3. Evaluates and make recommendations to superintendent for improving plant, grounds, and equipment maintenance operations
  4. Confers with outside contractors to perform activities or supply materials necessary for department services
  5. Administers all operations in accordance with OSHA, ADA, local, state, and federal legal requirements
  6. Assists in system-wide decision making by serving on committees
  7. Supervises repair work done by outside maintenance companies
  8. Maintains service logs and inventory of facilities and equipment
  9. Tracks oil consumption and places orders when necessary
  10. Participates in staff development activities

 

REQUIRED ABILITIES:

 

  1. Must be physically able to lift materials weighing up to 60 pounds
  2. Must be able to climb ladders
  3. Must be able to handle and work proficiently with common hand and power tools, screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches, and hammers
  4. Knowledge of Sutton School Committee policies and procedures
  5. Ability to work independently
  6. Effective verbal and written communication skills
  7. Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license
