    Welcome to the Social Sciences!

My name is Mr. Michael L. Whittier and I am the social science teacher on staff.  I have been with the district for 34 years, 25 years as a member of the teaching faculty. I am also an alumnus Class of 1983.  It is at Sutton High School that I became interested in the social sciences and the credit of my own teachers, including Mr. Fred Morway, who made me love social studies, Ms. Florence Shaw who made me a much more serious student and Mr. Veto Filipkowski who believed in me as a teacher and hired me twenty four years ago.  It is this proud tradition of teaching and love of learning that I hope to convey to my students and challenge them to expand and explore their own interests and experiences through learning.

Besides this welcome page each class will have a main page with general information for each class.  Unit pages within each class will also be available.  While we are feeling out our new website we will be playing with a lot of tools, ideas and changing concepts for effectively getting information to class members.
