Absent/Tardy Hotline

Sutton High School Attendance

Calling School for Absences
If a student is absent from school, the school will be calling to verify the student’s absence. A parent should call the school before 8:00 a.m. on the morning of the absence to inform the school. In the case of an excused absence upon returning to school, please send in the documentation for the excused absence. All other absences will be considered unexcused.

Early Dismissal
If a student needs to leave school early, a written explanation must be presented in advance to the office. This written explanation must be signed by the parent or guardian and contain the date, time of dismissal, and reason for the request of dismissal. This note must be brought to the office prior to the beginning of first period. Students will report to all classes up to their exact dismissal time and must report to the office to sign out. Students who are dismissed for non- medical issues or by the school nurse due to illness will not be permitted to attend any after- school activities, including athletics, with the exception of the Prom. Any extenuating circumstances to this regulation must have prior approval by the administration. Parents are asked to make every effort to schedule appointments after school hours.

Tardiness
Students arriving to class after 7:30 a.m. are considered late and must report to the guidance office
for a tardy pass. Students will not be admitted to their classes after 7:30 a.m. without a tardy
pass from the office. Please note: School time is the official time-not personal devices.
