The Sutton Public Schools Special Education Department offers voluntary preschool screening annually.  The purpose is to identify children who may be in need of  special education services to participate in a preschool curriculum.  The Sutton Public Schools are committed to identifying children ages 2 years, 9 months up to  the age of 5 years old that may have concerns in the areas of speech/language, fine or gross motor concerns or developmental delay.

If you have questions or concerns, and would like to have your child screened, please call the Special Education Office at (508) 581-1615  to schedule an appointment.

Trained personnel administer testing in the areas of:

  • Speech and language

  • Fine motor

  • Gross motor, and

  • Concept development

At the time of the screening, children are asked to separate from their parents/guardians and continue into the preschool classroom with a teacher.  On average the process lasts for an hour; after which the parent/guardian escorts their child to the school nurse for a vision/hearing screening.  Dates and times are posted throughout the year.
